My Own Colorado Winter Wonderland

 Welcome to my Winter Wonderland!

Come on over through the gate and take a look around!

The trees are covered with a beautiful snow!

I have been whisked up into a postcard of White!

On heavy cloudy days it almost appears in shades of black and white!

The pine trees are so heavy in their strong branches as the weight from the snow weights them down.

Even the birds are staying in, no picnic today!

Planting a yardstick in the white powder is a fun way to measure how much snow we got on this particular day.

The trees and fence never fail to give my camera a pretty picture. I feel like a grand photographer!

It seems so silent and still. A quiet moment in this cold beautiful weather.

But life has not stood still. Yes, I have to adventure out in this weather. The fog was very thick!

But when the sun comes out, all the snow crystals are divine!

God has painted a wonderful blanket in white!

Even the barbed wire and phone lines are frosted. This is my view of Pikes Peak with the fog!

Then this is my view another snowy day with no fog. The Colorado Rocky Mountains.

I am so blessed to be surrounded with all this winter beauty.
Hope you enjoyed your visit. I am really happy that you came by!

God bless you,

My Vintage Booth and Crafting

This vintage lamb nursery planter is just the cutest kisth baby welcoming gift! I found it while out thrifting recently.
Hello! I am glad you decided to come for a visit!

I have spent a lot of time this year working on my Booth #B112 at the American Classics Market Place, in Colorado Springs. I sell vintage home items like the antique depression glass cooky jar picture. and also some of my own crafting and sewing. So I am hopefully going to be even busier between now and Christmas with making a lot of fun things for my booth. Here are some cloth stuffed pumpkins that I made. Wish me luck!
I tend to be the slowest person in the world when I craft or sew or crochet, etc. It is a wonder I ever finish anything! As a matter of fact, I have plenty of unfinished projects that I will be working on again right after the New Year! Do you do that? Stop before a project is finished?
I can not believe how fast this year is flying by. My brain is not accepting that summer is over, let alone that we are coming up on winter. Oh yes, the leaves have changed and most have dropped. It was a wonderful display! I am blessed to live in Colorado where we have such long Indian Summers. It might get cold, but warms right back up!
Here is my dachshund, Hunter.

I get up early and take my son to the bus stop before the sun comes up. And it is getting colder and colder! But it sure is a pretty view!
Well, I guess I better get back to business. Hope you are all doing great!

Blessings,

Spring has Sprung

Spring time in the Rockies. Seems to be a happy dance between sunshine and snow!
But I am thrilled that winter is over. The grass is starting to turn green and the bushes are begining to bud.
The first thing I hear in the morning is the sound of birds chirping and scattering about just outside my bedroom window.
On the porch, our vacant birdhouses have new tenants!  Little sparrows have moved in! The bird feeders and bird bath are full of activity!
Out in the yard we have several families of bunnies that play and tumble! They never cease to make me smile.
I am so happy to see the new life come to my yard in the Spring! HalleluYah!

How are you enjoying the Spring?

Blessings

The snow has come, am I ready

Good morning my sweet friends. Well, it is looking a lot more like winter in my neck of the woods than autumn!
It was a nice surprise this morning. Earlier than normal. Not all the leaves have even changed colors yet!

So am I ready for this? I am not usually too thrilled about winter weather. You know, the aches and pains that settle into my bones, etc. .

I feel a bit exhilarated today. I welcome the change. Of course in Colorado, I can expect it to warm up my next week, so that makes it nice to enjoy for now.
So today I will switch out my sandals for boots, shorts for jeans. (I hang on to summer as long as I can,  some call it denial, lol) I will put on a comfy soft sweater and bake lasagna for dinner!

Celebrating a special birthday tonight for Mr Fix-it ♡♥ Lasagna is his favorite. My the years go by fast!

Stay warm and have a blessed day♡♥

Spring Cleaning Anyone

It is time to think about and do some Spring Cleaning! I love being able to open some windows and circulate some fresh air on warm enough days.. don't you?

I had been visiting over at Heirloom Treasures and it is a really sweet blog by Jeanette O'Donnell, she loves to sew Christening Gowns and sell them, garden in her cottage garden and she is also an author!

I was so please when she told me that I won her book in a recent give-away she held!

This is a great book, written for working mums. (Jeanette is from Australia, I love how they say "Mum"!)
But I think any body who is in need of some great tips on how to get organized and streamline the household chores. She writes it in Seven Easy Steps that can get the whole family helping out!

Jeanette, thank you for sending me a copy of your book. I don't want to give away her steps, but you should go visit here blog and see all her pretty ideas she has. And see about purchasing her book, too!

It will get your Spring Cleaning all geared up and be ready for sunmmer!

Blessings to you all,

Stop for the View

It is March which brings our minds to Spring. I am sure looking forward to warmer weather. But March doesn't really mean warm weather just yet! Here in Colorado you can never predict the weather and we get a lot of snow this time of year. Are you still getting snow? It is great for pretty picture taking! I love to stop along the side of the road and take pretty pictures when I have time.

I can never complain about the view! This is Pikes Peak in the Rocky Mountain Range. I have to admit I think it is about the most beautiful mountain ranges ever. When covered with snow it just highlights every little nook and valley! I love to stop and take pictures like this one. I have this view every day and am so thankful for being blessed to live in such a beautiful area!

No, these are not my horses, but I had to take a pretty picture of them to share with you, too.
Do you like to stop along side the road and take pictures too?

I am trying to get ready for Spring, but this is what it is like for Springtime here!!

Giving and Receiving

We baked up a storm and made candies galore! We gave baskets of food and much much more! Our lives are abundant and the blessings are full. I was so happy to share with others this Christmas.
I know that receiving is fun, but I find giving so much more! The children and I had so much fun together creating love with food and crafts.
We listened to Christmas music and danced and sang.
It was fun putting our love in gift form.
Thank God for giving us the the gift of His Son, and the joy of giving!
With giving also comes receiving!
That is a blessing as well.
Speaking of giving and recieving, that reminds me of Swaps! Swaps are such a fun part of the blogging community. We make new friends and share ourselves in really fun swaps.
Debby at Cozy Blanket had such a fun swap called Cup Of Kindness. I hope you are following her blog already, but if not, she is a sweet woman with lots to share. She is a great crafter and she is a grandma and she is one of the nicest people ever!
My partner was Erica from Golden Egg Vintage and she also has a blog that you will want to follow if you are not already. Erica is one of the best vintage crafters and collectors and she specializes in Christmas theme!! I sent her my present and she sent me mine! Just look at her wonderful Cup of Kindness for me.
All so very Christmas Vintage!
Details! Make the cup even more fun!
I thought this was a lot to fit in one cup!!
Erica, you must possess some Elf Magic!!
Vintage pipe cleaner Santa and cute Snowman, and decorated wreath! A vintage hand stitched Chicken /Scratch embroidered gingham apron!! Oh, Erica, you pay attention to what I like. You are such a sweetheart.
See the pretty corsage that she made!
Everyone loved this when I wore it for Christmas.

Thanks again Debby for being so kind in hostessing this
Cup of Kindness Swap 2012.
Thank you Erica for being a wonderful Swap partner!

Thank you to all my readers. So many have become friends and I am so happy and grateful for that!
It was a good year and I am looking forward to seeing what blessings are waiting in 2013.

Live. Laugh. Love.

God bless you,

Striped Crochet Scarf & Dachshund Puppy

This week I was working on a really cute scarf. I crocheted it with orange and black yarn for a really great October look. Being that my daughter's favorite color is orange this scarf was perfect for her!

I found the free pattern  here which you can use by clicking on the link from Red Heart. They call it the Super Easy Scarf Crochet Pattern, and it really is pretty simple to make.  (*updated 11-12-12 : I have since figured out that this is simply what is known as a moss stitch. Two rows one color, two rows the next. That is what creates this cute zig-zag. After your base chain, you simply do a single crochet in second third chain and then a chain, single crochet in space, chain, repeat ending in a single crochet, chain two and turn, repeating working the single crochet in each space.
For a tutorial there are many U-tube videos, or Google Moss Stitch Crochet.)

I am happy I can make this for my girl!
We chose it because of the zig zag look to it. Looks great Orange and Black!

I added a black border all the way around and an extra row of black on each end. It really needed that to give it a more polished and finished look.

So did you notice the puppy?
Yes, we have a new puppy in our lives.
His name is Hunter and he is 11 weeks old! Isn't he just a darling!

His big Brother Bear is so happy to have a new little brother!

Today the weather is just a perfect Fall day here in Colorado!
I am going to go outside and spend it with family and pooches.
What a blessing indeed. Hope you are having a great and wonderful day!

Blessings,

Preview to Farewell Leaves

I don't know about you, but I am feeling the crisp morning air and anticipating the wonderful Autumn weather. Just around the corner leaves will be changing colors and dropping soon after. I already have some doing this now. It is one of the prettiest times of year here in Colorado. So I decided to look back into my blog and last year when I had barely started my blog.. I had posted some beautiful pictures, that I am going to share again with you now. They were from my Cottonwoods in my yard, and I don't think a single person even looked at the post. So now I will do a little preview of my fall leaves in my yard from last year 11-26-2011.
Enjoy!

FAREWELL LEAVES

With Thanksgiving past, and what a wonderful time it was, I am now switching gears to prepare for Christmas. For me this means saying farewell to the gorgeous Autumn color pallet.
I will first take down all my Autumn leaf garlands and little pumpkins and gourds, etc. Out with the oranges, yellows, reds and browns. What a pretty pallet of colors.

This always makes me a little sad because I don't believe my Harvest theme gets enough time to be on display. Next year I must start right in September!

Just like my pretty trees, the leaves just start to glisten in gold and a cold snap hits and BOOM! They all drop to the ground! Don't blink or you will miss it.
So I decided to share a couple of pictures I took of my large Cottonwood tree that was in full golden beauty just a few week ago. I really believe that trees change to these fire colors in the Fall so we will look at them in awe. Not to mention, make us feel as if we are really the worlds greatest photographers.

It is really God that does all the work, but He gives us these beautiful views to photograph, paint, or just enjoy. We can feel good about it. Thank you Father for the beautiful Autum color pallet! I love it.

Hope you enjoy my trees pretty fall colored leaves!

Blessings,
