My lovely hens are always supplying me with the best tasting eggs on the planet! And they are so pretty too, don't you think?
The pale green basket I found at Hobby Lobby last spring, and I love it!
Today I am thankful once more for the little red barn or the large red coop (which ever you prefer to call it), in the back yard. It has been built with love by my dear sweet husband! He is so good at this kind of stuff!
I have to admit my girls have been a little "cooped up" this winter. They love the summer when I give them a lot of free time to wander through our yard to Free-Range.
Getting back out of the gate, while they are trying to bust out is kind of comical!
But on these warm winter days, they still have plenty of there own chicken yard space and love greeting me and eating any scraps I have to offer!
Thank you girls for todays eggs!
Blessings,

I love fresh eggs!
ReplyDeleteMy sister and mom both have chickens. My sister lives in Maine, and she has one chicken--Hoppy is her name because she has a bad leg (not kidding)--who always tries to get into my sister's house!!! If my sister leaves the garage open she goes right up the three steps that lead into the house! Fortunately my mom lives close enough that we get fresh eggs from her pretty regularly. She only has 4 chickens whereas my sister has over 40.
ReplyDeleteNow that's putting all your eggs in a PRETTY basket! :)
ReplyDeleteMy Tennessee grandparents always had chickens. It was so much fun to go looking for eggs! :)
Those eggs look lovely, I bet they taste delicious too! How fab to have fresh eggs x
ReplyDeleteSorry! That's the second time today I've hit the wrong button and left a "reply" instead of a comment. Fingers crossed I've got it right this time ...
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have your own chickens and be able to have fresh eggs!
Happy Rednesday!
Nothing better than fresh eggs !! Hoping for hubby to build a chicken coup this spring, I sure want a few hens. Thanks for stoppin by my blog. See ya again soon..))smiles))
ReplyDeletewhy the single brown egg? I asked because in New Zealand and Singapore has brown eggs.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of brown egg layers as well. Funny thing is I bought some pullets at an auction. They looked like, Barred Rocks, but lay white eggs. I figure they must be a barnyard breed, mixed with white egg layers. They all taste good, though!
DeleteThanks for the question.
We gave our chickens away about a year ago. Your post makes me miss them but I don't miss having to go out to feed and water them on these freezing mornings!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I've enjoyed my visit to your cheerful blog.
I love it , with all the different colors , they look like Easter Eggs !
ReplyDeleteThose eggs are like little works of art! So pretty. I'm envious of your barn and your chickens! I hope to someday have chickens of my own, but for now, I'll live vicariously through you.

What great pictures! Nothing better than farm fresh eggs:)
ReplyDeleteBTW, love the kitchen/mommy graphic at the top of your blog!
Also, to answer your question about my strawberry pie...though I haven't personally (I've always used fresh), I'd bet making this pie with frozen berries would be just as delicious.

I have to admit I am so thankful for the help I get from my husband and children.
DeleteHi Susie, I am a bit jealous here of your darling girls! I so want some chick-a-dees of my own! The barn is wonderful! I love barns. We have an old one just off to the side of our backyard. I love it's rustic feel. So glad that you hopped over to visit me because now I have found you. Now a new follower. Just wondering where you live? It's always fun to think about what's going on in your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Jann
Well, maybe you can take a picture of that old barn, mine lives in Colorado!
DeleteI love your chickens. I just came in from cleaning out the chicken coop, what a coincidence! I love my girls too. They are so silly and very comical. I think they are looking forward to better weather so they can go play in the yard too! Have a great day!!
