Spring Cleaning Anyone

It is time to think about and do some Spring Cleaning! I love being able to open some windows and circulate some fresh air on warm enough days.. don't you?

I had been visiting over at Heirloom Treasures and it is a really sweet blog by Jeanette O'Donnell, she loves to sew Christening Gowns and sell them, garden in her cottage garden and she is also an author!

I was so please when she told me that I won her book in a recent give-away she held!

This is a great book, written for working mums. (Jeanette is from Australia, I love how they say "Mum"!)
But I think any body who is in need of some great tips on how to get organized and streamline the household chores. She writes it in Seven Easy Steps that can get the whole family helping out!

Jeanette, thank you for sending me a copy of your book. I don't want to give away her steps, but you should go visit here blog and see all her pretty ideas she has. And see about purchasing her book, too!

It will get your Spring Cleaning all geared up and be ready for sunmmer!

Blessings to you all,

Thank you...

I want to thank each and everyone of you for all the prayers and warm thoughts, the encouragement, and love. Your sentiments have meant the world to me while going through such a rough time. I know I have not had time to thank everyone individually. Please know that all of you are a blessing to me, even if I have not had time to come thank you in a personal note. I am very blessed to have been blessed by you!
Thank you so much,
Susie

Stop for the View

It is March which brings our minds to Spring. I am sure looking forward to warmer weather. But March doesn't really mean warm weather just yet! Here in Colorado you can never predict the weather and we get a lot of snow this time of year. Are you still getting snow? It is great for pretty picture taking! I love to stop along the side of the road and take pretty pictures when I have time.

I can never complain about the view! This is Pikes Peak in the Rocky Mountain Range. I have to admit I think it is about the most beautiful mountain ranges ever. When covered with snow it just highlights every little nook and valley! I love to stop and take pictures like this one. I have this view every day and am so thankful for being blessed to live in such a beautiful area!

No, these are not my horses, but I had to take a pretty picture of them to share with you, too.
Do you like to stop along side the road and take pictures too?

I am trying to get ready for Spring, but this is what it is like for Springtime here!!

Blessings from Colorado,

Baby Chicks Anyone

Hi everyone!! I sure hope that you are all having a great Winter! I was planning last Fall to winter over some baby chicks and have them at egg laying age by the time Summer came.

Well, I had some really weird vertigo problems and keeping chicks just wasn't in the cards. So this Spring I will be looking into some new fresh little baby chicks!! I love them little fluffy critters !!

So when you get baby chicks you have to keep them warm and draft free.
Week 1: 90-95 F
Week 2: 85-90 F
Week 3: 80-85 F
Week 4: 75-80 F
Week 5: 70-75 F
Week 6: 70 F
So by week six the temperature should hopefully stay withing the 70 F range. By this time they are well feathered and do well out in the pen. We have some of the coldest weather here from March through May. Yes, we even have been known to have snow in June!

Therir first home for me is usually just a big card board box. That way, I can keep them in for a bit to keep them from getting into any trouble and out of danger. Remember, that small children and house pets can be pretty dangerous to a baby chick.

As tempting as it may be to buy a baby chick for your children for Easter. Please remember they grow fast and if you do not know what you are doing, you may have a mean Rooster in no time at all.
Not to mention that a baby chick is very fragile.

I really think unless you seriously want to start keeping chickens. That the best gift for a child is a stuffed toy one.

With careful planning and gathering practical information. You can start enjoying your own Farm Fresh Eggs when the pullet reaches about 20 weeks in age! There are lots of great Chicken Keeping books and web pages out there. So get informed and enjoy!

I have been enjoying my chickens and their eggs for about 13 years now! It has been a very rewarding hobby!

Have you ever kept chickens? Would you like too?

Blessings,
Susie

He Really is Mr. Amazing

I sure think it is time for a cheerful post! I have been really busy with my Dad's recent heart attack and surgery. After my last update, I was so happy to read all of the oh so wonderful comments and all of the great support from you. Thank you!
Yes, your prayers are good. My Dad had been having a heart attack that would not stop, and they did emergency surgery on him Saturday, January 5, 2013. The details are in this post here . After having another heart attack on the table they opened him up again, and then tried to stabilize him and sent him to an ICU room. Daddy stayed sedated and on a ventilator until Tuesday. He was slowly getting a little better.
Then on Wednesday, He flat lined at 11:00 am and it took over 2 minutes to bring him back, then he flat lined again at around 2:00 pm, then again at 3:00 pm. They manged to bring him back both times again.
As you can imagine, this was all very stressful and scared us all very much. He was aware of what happened and had many things he felt important to say to family members. We have had so much support with our prayer warriors, and by Saturday the 12th, one week since the surgery, they moved him out of ICU and into Coronary Care Unit. Seemed like a good day, and him and Momma even watched a football game between the Denver Broncos and the Ravens.
At 2:00 am I got a phone call that he was in trouble. Very difficult breathing with Pneumonia! I was at home over 30 minutes away. I managed to get to the hospital asap. Joining my mother and my dad's favorite cousin we gathered around him, praying nonstop. Also, many other family members praying from where they were.

My big strong Daddy was scared. My Mom was fragile and we were all doing our best. The medical staff did so many things to help get him breathing again, and he had been having irregular heart beat. I know that the All Mighty is just that, and performs His great works.
Daddy is breathing so much better. His heart has an outer pace maker and his heart is working hard to stay in rhythm.  My mom is tired, but very happy.
Monday, Dad even was able to get up and walk 10 feet! He is such a fighter! And through it all He is sharing the Gospel. To everyone he comes in contact with. Also, he is telling jokes and keeping a very upbeat attitude.
Watching my Dad keeping such a positive attitude, fighting attitude , and having so much faith just makes me so proud!
He really is Mr. Amazing! I have to say, I am really proud of my Momma's strength, too! Mr. & Mrs. Amazing.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am so blessed and thankful for my family and friends.
I love Prayer Warriors!!
Blessings,
Susie
